Loch Lyoch and Loch Cleugh have a head of natural Wild & Stocked Brownies and Loch Lyoch is stocked with rainbows 2lbs upwards.

Loch Cleugh is Brown Trout Only.

Browns in the 3lb to 6lb mark caught regularly each season. (Best Brown 9lbs 8oz.) In the interest of conservation all brown trout are to be returned to the water.

Tinto Trout fishery is a private membership fly fishery consisting of two five acre lochs with a limited membership.

4 rods have been reserved for use by parties using our letting the cottage and requiring fishing.

(Providing that these are not being used the rods are available to the angling public on a day permit basis).

The fishery is open all year weather permitting.

Advance Phone Bookings are required regarding availability of day rods.

Fly Fishing Only.

Float tube fishers welcome.

Fishing tactics

When re stocking Loch Lyoch with rainbows from our own holding tanks the fish are trickle fed in to the loch to give them a chance to fit in and start feeding naturally.

This means that the approach to fishing should be a natural one.

Patterns that do well are:

Various Hoppers

Daddy Long legs

Sedge patterns

Muddlers

Bibio

Various Buzzers

Heather fly

Alexandria

Soldier Palmer

Partridge and orange

Blae and Black

Ace of spades

6lb minimum leader is needed as there is a large head of Brown trout that will shred anything lighter.

9ft 5 weight rod can cover the water easily.

a Floating and intermediate line is also adequate.
