Clyde style Flies.
As the website name suggests the lets fish the Clyde book printed in 1973 has been a inspirational book and I must recommend it to anyone interested in Clyde style fishing. The book is a fantastic reference book for fly tying but it also gives the reader a glimps of a bye gone day where Clydestyle fishing was a true art only mastered by the dedicate angler. These Clydestyle patterns and fishing techniques are still to this day very successful at producing quality fish on the Clyde and other rivers.
Robert C Sharp (Author of lets fish the Clyde)
Clyde style flies.
Clyde style flies are very sparse natural fly and nymph imitations dating back over 100 years. Most of these patterns still catch fish very efficiently. Some of the fly tying materials have changed over the years, many of the original Clyde style patterns were tied using now protected birds. Substitute feathers are now used in there place.
Below is a good selection of traditional Clydestyle patterns.
We would like to thank Phil Bailey from North country flies for kindly supplying he pictures of the above Clydestyle flies. For more info on Clydestyle flies and North country flies I would recommend you check out Phil's website www.northcountryflies.com
